As my wife and I were shopping around Target recently we came upon their Valentines Day section. Of course there was a ton of candy that filled the isles, along with cards to give your sweethearts, but what baffled us the most was the decorations we found for Valentines Day. Which made us ask ourselves a question, “Who decorates for Valentines Day and why?”. Because it’s not like Christmas and Thanksgiving that take up a good 2 months of planning, hoping and anticipating. It’s just a day to show the one you love how much you love them and care for them.
Now, I’m not saying you can’t decorate for Valentines Day or shouldn’t, but it really just got me thinking. Big corporations and businesses are constantly and consistently putting stuff in the store to make money, whether it’s a little $1 trinket from the dollar section or merchandise for a holiday that comes and goes so fast without much warning, but if they’re able to sell some at each store throughout the country, well then it’s worth it to them and they’ll make a ton of money every year from it!
I anticipate that as soon as Valentines Day is over we’ll immediately see Easter stuff promoted and chocolate bunnies everywhere! Yay for chocolate! If you’re one of the business owners that takes advantage of each and every holiday every year, kudos to you, and keep it up, they’ll be coming back every year, which means continued cash flow, and that’s definitely a good thing!
Have a great Valentines Day everyone!
Keep Being Awesome!
